Kylie Valentine, from Tauranga Girls’ College, shares the beginnings of a journey to challenge traditional, secondary school pedagogical norms; to shift the holy grail from assessment and achievement to agency and achievement. Her Influencer team is attempting to live rather than just espouse the theory of “knowing thy learner”. They’ve developed the realisation that Assessment for Learning is critical in a secondary context and are working to embed it.
Kylie represents a team of Middle and Senior Leaders in the college who are knowledge building and challenging their own assumptions about learning and teaching.
