The Takapuna/Devonport Kāhui Ako has been tracking target students from Year 4 through to Year 13 for the past six years to report on their achievement challenges. Last year, Andrew Robinson from Devonport Primary School presented Opening Doors with Data—a presentation on how, through this process of data collection and tracking, the Kāhui Ako has built and developed a culture of openness and collaboration.
Since then, they’ve seen some massive shifts in expectations around data collection, which they view as opportunities to reflect on practices and develop new initiatives to improve them.
The workshop is a chance to hear about their journey—the challenges, the successes, and the changes made to data collection processes—through the lens of the Lai & Robinson (2006) 40-20-40 data cycle.
Andrew has been teaching at Devonport Primary for the past 14 years and has a passion for using data to inform his teaching. He has worked as an Across School Leader with the Takapuna-Devonport Kāhui Ako for the past 4 years where he is responsible for (amongst many other things) tracking and analysing data from Year 4 through to Year 13.
