Nathan Durie speaks as co-tumuaki of TIPENE.

Nathan Durie and Yvette McCausland-Durie are co-founders of TŪ TOA and MANUKURA now Co-Tumuaki of TIPENE – a charter school located in Bombay, Auckland. With a passion for Māori education, Yvette and Nathan continue to challenge the system to deliver excellence for Māori. Nathan has his postgraduate degree in Sport Management, a Postgraduate Diploma in Bilingual Teaching, a Bachelor of Education and Diploma of Teaching. He has been a Tumuaki for 26 years with continuing engagement as a current classroom teacher. Yvette has her Masters in Education, postgraduate degree in Sport Management, a Bachelor of Education and a Diploma of Teaching. In netball, Yvette has worked with players from emerging talent (Year 5s) through to high performance (Silver Ferns). Yvette and Nathan believe in the potential and capacity of young people and are driven to ensure education makes a difference for each and every child.
