Join Sarah Martin and Bob Miller from Stonefields School for an interactive look at their live dashboard—Bob walks workshop attendees through how Stonefields School brings data to life, using it to inform strategy and enhance learning outcomes.
“Stonefields School is a community that learns together and continually strives for improvement. From the beginning, we have gathered and analysed data to inform decision-making and shape our strategic direction.
Our Assessment, Teaching, and Learning (ATL) framework guides our teaching practice, inquiry, and strategic priorities. It focuses on three key questions: What are we teaching and aiming to improve? How will we go about it? How will we measure our impact?
We analyse a broad range of data, including student achievement, progressions, surveys, and whānau voice. Additionally, we have developed in-house tools—such as our Agency, Wellbeing, and Engagement tools—to measure success in areas that traditional metrics often overlook.
By continuously refining our approach, we have prototyped and developed insight tools, some of which have evolved into software applications. These insights feed into our newly developed Improvement Dashboard, a dynamic tool that supports collaboration among staff and board members to identify and prioritise whole-school improvements.”
Sarah Martin is the Principal of Stonefields School and Bob Miller is a recent Associate Principal and now part time employee. They are both forward thinking educators who have held a range of leadership, facilitation and governance roles in a number of schools, philanthropic boards and advisory groups. They are motivated and committed to ensuring young people find their purpose and develop the capabilities and knowledge to take positive action in their own life, community and beyond. Sarah is a collaborator who looks to network with those with a shared purpose to address equity, curriculum relevance and measuring what we value. Bob has a unique analytical skill set and is a total geek when it comes to making sense of data, correlations and impact.
